FO4ACP - Caribbean
The Farmers’ Organizations for Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (FO4ACP) programme aims to increase the incomes and improve the livelihoods, food and nutrition security, and safety of organized smallholders and family farmers in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries by strengthening regional, national and local farmers’ organizations.
The AgriCord Alliance is able to implement its sub-programme thanks to the financing of the European Union (EU), the Organization for African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) as technical and administrative managing entity.
Programme partners for FO4ACP as a whole are EAFF (Kenya), FAO Regional Office for Latin America and Caribbean (Chile), PAFO (Rwanda), PIFON (Fiji), PROPAC (Cameroon), ROPPA (Burkina Faso), SACAU (South Africa) and UNMAGRI (Tunisia).
AgriCord's sub-programme "FO4ACP Caribbean" consists of several projects in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The projects are implemented by four (4) of our twelve (12) member agri-agencies and Coordinadora Latinoamericana y del Caribe de Pequeños(as) Productores(as) y Trabajadores(as) de Comercio Justo (CLAC), the representative organization of FairTrade farmers in Latin America.
The projects concretely aim 1) to strenghten Farmers' Organizations in the provision of services to its members along priority value chains, 2) to create conducive and enabling business environments, and 3) to support the institutional development of Farmers' Organizations to become democratic, inclusive and sustainable institutions.
