About this Publication
Faced with a triple health, economic, and social crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic, Farmers’ Organisations (FOs) have been called on by members and partners to play a variety of roles in response to the crisis.
Thanks to their proximity to farmers and producers, they were able to reach and support rural populations at a time when circulation was severely restricted. This study gathered statements from FOs on how their role evolved and changed during the COVID-19 pandemic to call attention to the new or stronger roles played by those organisations and to address capacity-building needs and strategic areas of focus for the design of future actions and programmes. It provides an overview of the roles the farmers’ and producers’ organisations played during the pandemic, based on qualitative interviews with the organisations.
